Bentley Handpicked To Be First Country Artist Featured on PBS' Innovative Music Series Live From The Artists Den

NASHVILLE, TN - May 11, 2009 - Award winning singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley has snagged the cover of the May/June double issue of American Songwriter, on stands now. Having co-written all six of his No. one hits and five more Top 10's, Bentley is fast becoming one of modern country music's most consistent and prolific singer/songwriters.

In the eight-page interview, Bentley recalls realizing his songwriting needed more work after visiting Nashville songwriter havens like the Bluebird Café and Douglas Corner. He describes landing his first publishing deal, the excitement of quitting his day job to focus on the craft, the importance of finding good co-writers and how the process of letting a song sit and breathe contributes to its overall success.

"On his fourth album, the Arizona-born artist continues to impress on one well-written song after another." Boston Globe

"Bentley has crafted this whole album the way he crafts each song--carefully, deeply and with conviction." Chicago Tribune

"Bentley, who cowrote all but one number, can still turn out a substantial ballad like the contemplative 'Beautiful World' (a duet with Patty Griffin), and cuts like 'Here She Comes Here We Go' have a breezy swagger sure to rouse audiences." Philadelphia Inquirer

Bentley has also been tapped as the first country artist to be featured on the critically acclaimed PBS series Live From The Artists Den, which has previously showcased such esteemed acts as Alanis Morissette, Jakob Dylan and Raphael Saadiq. The episode was taped in Chicago in April and in a rare intimate performance, Bentley treats fans to both his hits and some of his favorite album cuts, plucked from his first four releases. The hour-long program will air when the series' 2nd season returns in Sept. For behind-the-scene photos of the taping, fans can visit http://theartistsden.com/photography/bentley/.

Bentley's current single "Sideways," which is already a Top 10 hit at radio and is quickly powering its way to the top of the chart, is also currently one of iTunes' most downloaded country songs. The multi-platinum star returns from his first Australian tour this week and will perform the summer party anthem on The Bonnie Hunt Show on May 14 and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on May 20. He will rejoin Brad Paisley for his American Saturday Night Tour on June 5th in Charlotte, NC. For a complete list of upcoming appearances and tour dates, visit www.dierks.com.
