DIERKS BENTLEY SPENDS 2nd WEEK IN THE TOP SPOT WITH HIS SMASH HIT SINGLE "SETTLE FOR A SLOWDOWN"

NASHVILLE, TN - Jun. 1, 2006 - Capitol Records Nashville singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley's odds increased considerably this week as his 6th single "Settle For a Slowdown" (written by Bentley, Tony Martin & Brett Beavers) holds tight in the number one position on both Billboard and R&R charts for the second consecutive week. Three of his first six releases have gone to number one including "What Was I Thinkin'?" and "Come A Little Closer," and all three of those have enjoyed multiple weeks in the top spot. Other radio success includes Top five hits with "Lot of Leavin' Left to Do" and "How Am I Doin.'"

"This has been a favorite song of mine ever since the day we wrote it," explains Bentley. "It has been fun watching the reaction of the crowd on the Kenny Chesney tour as the song climbed up the charts this spring. They have gotten louder and louder each week, and a big thanks goes out from me and my guys to country radio."

"This has been the fastest rising single on the charts for Dierks to date," added Jimmy Harnen, VP, Promotion, Capitol Records Nashville. "The entire team at Capitol could not be more pumped to see ‘Settle For a Slowdown' sit atop the Country airplay charts for a second straight week in a row."

"Settle for a Slowdown" is the third release off Bentley's sophomore album Modern Day Drifter, which was certified Platinum in December 2005. The last year has been filled with career milestones for the Arizona-native, who also took home the CMA Horizon Award and was nominated for ACM's Top Male Vocalist award. Bentley has been in the studio recording his next album due out this fall and out on the road with Kenny Chesney's "The Road & the Radio" tour playing sold-out arenas across the country.
