THOMAS RHETT MARKS HEFTY 76,000 UNITS IN FIRST-WEEK OF “IMPRESSIVE" SOPHOMORE RELEASE TANGLED UP

The CMA Nominee Also Earns Platinum RIAA Certification for Album’s Chart-topping Lead Single “Crash And Burn”

Nashville, TN - Oct. 5, 2015 – CMA New Artist of the Year nominee Thomas Rhett’s sophomore effort TANGLED UP (The Valory Music Co.) debuted on the Billboard 200 chart with more than 76,000 in first-week units. Its chart-topping lead single “Crash and Burn” simultaneously receives Platinum certification by the RIAA, leading into performances this week on the outdoor stage at Jimmy Kimmel Live! (10/7) and on The Ellen DeGeneres Show (10/7).

“It’s been cool to finally get feedback from the fans this week,” said Thomas Rhett. “There’s so much freedom in knowing we’re on the same page and they’re just as excited about this new music as I am. I’ve always felt like we were pretty in-sync with what we are into, but now I’m on this crazy adrenaline high and could not be more pumped."

The “booty-shaker” album that People selected as a "Top Pick" of the week continues to earn applause from critics for Thomas Rhett's "impressive, confident ability to mix and mingle with different genres on his sophomore release” (Yahoo!).

“Mixes the classic vibes of a throwback record with the range and excitement of new-school arrangements.” - Rolling Stone

“With its R&B influence and grooves, the song pushes the boundaries of country music.” - The Tennessean

“So eclectic—it’s almost like a mixtape with [his] voice as the common thread.” - Parade

“With each single he's released since his debut in 2012, Rhett has gotten closer to his niche in country music: a retro, soul-inspired danceable mix of arena-sized tunes and hooky melodies.” - Associated Press

“Maybe we should just call it what it is: good music.” - North West Indiana Times

Last week, Thomas Rhett released the “sultry and vulnerable…hit out of the gate” (All Access) “Die A Happy Man” as the follow-up to his four consecutive No. one hits. Currently on the road where his “high-energy all the way” (El Paso Times) live show has “the audience dancing all the way up in the rafters of the stadium,” (Billboard) Thomas Rhett will begin headlining the CMT Tour kicking-off Oct. 29 in New York City.
