“INTRODUCING: KIP MOORE” ON GREAT AMERICAN COUNTRY FROM SURFER TO HITMAKER, RISING STAR STAYS TRUE TO SELF

Personal and Nomadic Life is Documented by Best Friend Over Six Month Period

NASHVILLE, TN – Aug. 20, 2013 – “People ask who I am as an artist, who I am as a person,” says Kip Moore in Introducing: Kip Moore premiering Sunday, September 1, 11:30 p.m./ET, on Great American Country.  “I don’t ever want to tell them who I am; you can find that out in the music.”  In this rare, intimate glimpse into his life and career, Moore, his manager, producer and best friend weigh in on the journey that has taken him from unemployed Hawaiian surfer to platinum-selling rising country star with three consecutive No. 1 hits off of his debut album.

Moore credits his late father for his love of music and songwriting, recalling fishing trips made while the music of Willie Nelson, Bruce Springsteen and Bob Seger played in the car.  “All that time – really without me knowing it – listening to those records, fishing and all that stuff soaking in me shaped me not only as a person but as a writer,” he says. Bar band gigs at the beach followed college graduation until his love of surfing found him and his best friend buying one way plane tickets to Hawaii.  “It was out there that I realized I was not going to be happy in life doing anything other than music,” Moore recalls.  A short time later he moved to Nashville.

Viewers will be treated to personal videos and photographs of Moore from his surfer days as well as performance and backstage video from recent touring.  And it’s no surprise that he opts to do the bulk of his interviews on the scenic South Carolina coastline.  There’s also a rare look inside the single room he currently rents in Nashville.

While working on his second LP, Moore finds himself taking a bit of a different approach.  “I never set out to write this or write that like I used to.  I now write when I feel inspired.”  He’s also reflective as he looks to the future saying, “You can’t live your life trying to please people.  You be courteous and you be respectful but you’ve got to do things in the way that you want to do them.”
