JASON ALDEAN CELEBRATES PLATINUM CERTIFICATION OF DEBUT ALBUM
Aldean Snags Four Award Nominations This Week
NASHVILLE, TN – Mar 7, 2007 – Rising country music star and 2006 ACM TOP NEW MALE VOCALIST Jason Aldean’s self-titled debut release has been certified PLATINUM by the RIAA. The freshman effort spawned three chart-topping radio hits, “Hicktown” (#9), “Why” (#1) and “Amarillo Sky” (#4). Aldean becomes the first PLATINUM selling artist for Nashville independent label Broken Bow Records.
“The past 12 months has been a crazy year of firsts,” said Aldean. “My first award nominations, first number one single and now my first platinum album. It’s something every new artist dreams about.”
Aldean picked up four industry award nominations this past week for his hit single “Amarillo Sky,” adding more fuel to a career that is already on fire. He was nominated by country music fans for two CMT Music Awards in both the “Breakthrough Video of the Year” and the “Video Director of the Year” categories. And just yesterday, Aldean was honored once again by the Academy of Country Music with nominations in the “Song of the Year” and “Video of the Year” categories.
Aldean’s sophomore album RELENTLESS hits stores on May 29, 2007. Already, the lead single, “Johnny Cash” is drawing a huge response from country radio. After just three weeks “Johnny Cash” is proving to be the fastest rising single of Aldean’s career to date.
The single was given “Pick of the Week” status by USA TODAY’S Brian Mansfield on February 20.
“Starts with a ‘take this job and shove it’ moment, then proceeds to a quickie wedding…a hook as big as Aldean’s 2005 breakthrough, Hicktown, provides the soundtrack,” writes Mansfield.
