NASHVILLE, TN – Oct 13, 2009 – Platinum selling country rocker Jason Aldean snagged his first career nomination for the American Music Awards this morning in the country “Favorite Male Artist” category alongside Keith Urban and Darius Rucker. The 37th Annual fan-voted AMA’s are set to air Live on Sun., November 22nd at 8:00P ET/PT on ABC.
“The AMA’s are one of the coolest award shows of the year…you never know what you’re going to see,” said Aldean. “One of my first memories of the show was the year Michael Jackson came out carrying Emmanuel Lewis…crazy! It’s great that I’ll get to be a part of it this year. I’ll be easy to spot since I’m sure I’ll be the only guy in the room representin’ with a cowboy hat!”
Nominees for the American Music Awards were selected from data supplied by The Nielsen Company’s Broadcast Data Systems, which monitors radio airplay performance, and Soundscan, which tracks retail music sales. Fans can begin the final round of voting online today at ama.abc.com as well as amavote.com and mycokerewards.com.
Since it’s release in April, Jason Aldean’s third studio album WIDE OPEN has consistently planted itself at the top of Billboard’s country charts and has spawned back to back No. one smash hits “She’s Country” and “Big Green Tractor,” which have collectively spent six weeks at the top spot this year. Aldean is continuing the momentum with his new single “The Truth,” already breaking the Top 30 after only three weeks.
Tonight, Aldean will join Keith Urban and friends at the Sommet Center in Nashville, TN for We’re All for the Hall, a special concert event to benefit the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. For upcoming appearances and a full list of tour dates, visit www.jasonaldean.com.
