NASHVILLE, TN – July 27, 2009 – Award-winning Capitol Nashville trio Lady Antebellum’s first No. one hit “I Run To You” also becomes the group’s first GOLD digital single this week as the RIAA certifies the song for over 500,000 downloads.
“When we write, we never know which of our songs will end up connecting with people,” says lead vocalist Charles Kelley. “The minute we put “I Run To You” in our show, we knew that people were starting to respond to it because the voices were growing louder every night. I still can’t believe that 500,000 people even know who we are…much less downloaded a song we wrote at the Loveless Cafe over lunch one day. It’s crazy!”
Lady Antebellum first sent ripples through the country music community last spring when their debut album landed at No. one on the Billboard charts, smashing digital sales records and eventually going on to be certified GOLD by the RIAA. The buzz continued as the trio celebrated early success with its first two hit singles “Love Don’t Live Here” and “Lookin’ For A Good Time.” Lady A has gone on to earn the coveted titles of ACM “Best New Vocal Group” and CMA “New Artist of the Year,” along with two GRAMMY nominations and three CMT Awards nominations.
Lady Antebellum is currently on the road with Kenny Chesney playing arenas and stadiums across the country, and will join Keith Urban for their first trek to Canada later this fall. ¬†Fans can catch the trio performing on the two-hour special CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock on Aug. 31 on ABC.
